Goals Step 2: Choose ONE to work on. Make it SMART

Goals Step 2:  Choose ONE to work on.

I am going to choose to work on "feeling confident in a swim suit".

I have had 3 beautiful babies.  So I have a bit of a mommy tummy.  However, the area I want to firm up and shape is my lower half.

Let's SMART the goal out.

Specific:  I want to feel confident in a swim suit by firming up my lower half
Measurable:  Pictures of 0, 30, 60 and 90 day results.
Attainable: I will eat only Protein and veggies.  No fruits or grain.  Limit calories to 1600 a day.  Keep track of food on paper.  Eat 6 small protein carb balanced meals a day.  Doing P90X3 for 90 days.
Relevant:  Swim suit season is coming and if I wait until summer to eat right and exercise then it will be too late.
Time-bound:  I will start tonight with P90x3.  Taking the fitness test and before pictures.

ACCOUNTABILITY:  Who is going to help hold me accountable.  I need someone.

By posting this on the blog it hold me accountable.  Also Mr. E is going to be doing it with me.  I will respect his privacy by not posting photos of him here.

Stay tuned for photos tomorrow.

Goals Step 1: List them out

Goals Step 1: List them out

-Start a blog.
I have wanted to start a public blog for years.  I wanted to start one when we gave our first house a face lift.  But it felt too restrictive.  I could only decorate one house so much.  It needed to be "finished" at some point.  So I decided on a goal setting blog.  A blog where I could share anything from decorating or photography to weight loss or finances.

-Feel confident in a swim suit.

-Read books with Mr. E.

-Save for a down payment on a house.

-Buy NO new cloths until down payment is saved for.

-Limit Grocery money to $400 dollars a month until Down payment is saved for.

-Minimize the house.
"Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." -William morris

-paint some abstract out.  (As a creative release).

-decorate master bedroom

-decorate shared kids room

Goals Step 2: Choose one to work on.  And make it SMART!

SMART goals

We all have goals and achievements we want to accomplish.  Stop.  Take a minute and write those goals down.

When you see others meeting their goals what do you think?

"They are smarter than me".
"They are more motivated than me".
"They have more time than me".

Some of those statements may be true and apply to the given goal.  So how do you know if your goals is any good?  Can you reach it?  How do you know?

If you use make sure it is SMART than you should be able to reach it.  I think there is ONE major thing missing rom SMART goals.

You need to be held accountable.  You need an extrinsic motivator.  Someone.

Let me give you an example.

Example 1

You want to loose some weight.

Specific:  Loose 20 lbs
Measurable: 1 lb per week
Achievable: Measure and keep track of calories on myfitnesspal.  Calories per day 1500.  No grains.  Only meats and veggies.  Protein carbohydrate balance.  6 small meals.  Exercise Daily using P90X3.
Relevant: Swimsuit season is coming.  You finally want to feel confident in that suit.
Time-bound: You want to complete this in 3 months time.

So now who will hold you accountable?  You need someone to do this with you.  So call a friend,  there are forums on Facebook, or use a significant other.

It seems simple enough.  Unless you make a plan to achieve it you are setting up yourself for failure.  You make plans and you keep them.
